After over five decades of obscurity, the Beatles’ cinematic treasure, “Let It Be,” will be reintroduced to the public in a freshly remastered edition streaming exclusively on Disney+ starting May 8. This release brings a significant piece of music history back into the spotlight, with enhancements that promise to deliver a new viewing experience.

Directed by Michael Lindsay-Hogg, the original “Let It Be” film debuted on May 13, 1970, capturing poignant moments of the Beatles’ final album production. Its re-release aligns with the modern enhancements facilitated by Peter Jackson’s team at Park Road Post Production, known for their recent work on the “Get Back” docuseries, also a Disney+ exclusive.

The remastered “Let It Be” not only revitalizes the film using the original 16mm negatives but also incorporates advanced audio de-mixing technology, similar to what was employed in “Get Back.” This technology brings out a clearer and more vibrant sound, aligning historical content with contemporary quality standards.

Peter Jackson regards “Let It Be” and “Get Back” as complementary pieces, each enriching the understanding of the other. “Let It Be” serves as the concise narrative, akin to a great short story, while “Get Back” provides a broader, novel-like context.
